Wood Carvings 2 - "Sassacus"
Sassacus was a fierce and feared warrior who became Pequot grand sachem in 1632 in the area of the Connecticut Colonies. The Pequot were defeated by the English in 1637, Sassacus fled to what he thought was safety among the Mohawks, was betrayed and killed in what is present day New York .
Sassacus is carved in Honduras Mahogany, accented with Black walnut earrings and eyes.
